2007 in REVIEW

I sincerely apologize for not posting in awhile. However, my exams are over, and with Christmas and New Years next week, a review post is needed.

Sasha, Agyness and Raquel ruled the fashion world

Yellow and white dresses made a well deserved comeback

From past season extremes of wide and skinny belts, the belt finally came to a quaint medium width near the end of the year.

The high waisted trend hit its peak this year, seen all over the runways, and even in Hollywood.

Retro swimsuits, like Kirsten Dunst wore this past summer, having a covered look, but still has the coveted sexy vibe. Some designers picked up on the trend, but expect to see more next summer.

Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler recieved ultimate status in the fashion world. Both designs equally in my mind represent the 2000's.




Statement hats, not for the shy returned to the runways this year




New prints emerged this year. Small prints influenced from the early 90's a Luella's S/S 2008 show, Stella McCartney's S/S 2008 show featured florals, and from Anna Sui and D&G's S/S 2008 shows came much different prints.


So Over for 2008:

-LEGGINGS! (Enough already! Wear pants if you are cold!)
-Wide legged pants (afterall, they barely caught on outside the fashion world)
-Complicated shoes (any Balenciaga, gladiators etc.)
-Long hemlines (the new length is right at the knee, or thigh skimming. Get rid of the full length skirts and dresses, shorter hemlines are much more 2008.)
-Overly done hair. after just one season of pincurls and glamour waves, relaxed waves and messy updo's came back. and were gladly accepted.
-Flip flops. instead, go for a chic black flat that will last you forever, or, the Birkenstock (because comfort and looks can be together (I myself own the t-strap sandals).


Predictions:

-Electric blue overload (especially in accessories, think bags shoes, gloves etc.)
-The return of simplistic dressing (think Calvin Klein) -Peach and orange (think Pucci's S/S 2008 show)
-The capri (think Audrey)
-trouser jean
-metallic and beaded accents
-cuffs
-brooches
-retro swimsuits (see above), because as much as they were seen this past year, I'm hoping the fashion world will take the trend further.

Model? Siri Tollerød

Of Course, only time will tell if my predictions will actually come true, but, you never know what will happen next in the fashion world. That is unless you are the King of the fashion world, Karl Lagerfeld (but then again, is last Chanel collection had a little bit too much denim).....
