show some high-waisted love

Oop, just noticed i did not supply a link for the skirt. Available here for $345. ♥ S

What I love about this up and coming Spring/Summer 2007 season, is the high-waisted pant look. Afterall, I think we all have had a little too much fun with the low extremely low rise pants. Now, we no longer have to do the quick pant-pull-up before we sit down. No more coin slot!

Of course we have all seen the new pant everywhere, but the high-waisted skirt? Not something you would really expect, but I am loving it. Sure, the colour is white, a classic colour we all associate summer with, but isn't it just lovely?

What to pair it with? Shoe wise, pair it with something like these in blue or even these in plum or maybe these in heather fawn? (pictures shown below, from right to left in the order they appeared above)

Being that it is still the winter months, look for richer colours like reds and browns, but slap on a blazer like this from Jovovich-Hawk or something more like this from 3.1 Phillip Lim (which of course is just a simple tuxedo jacket)or like this from Milly, in a gorgeous red colour, or even
this from Malene Birger (I really like that one!) (Pictures shown below from right to left in the order they appeared in above).

So, to turn a summer piece into a more fall/winter piece, go for richer colours, to counter act the summer vibes, and cover up your arms with a structured blazer.

happy new year

ohmygoodness. i have no idea what is up with my blogger, but lately it doesn't like me. tell me if the picture work now. ♥ S

I love dresses. This season, we are seeing a shirter hemline, which is always good to show off those long legs. My first pick? The Louis by Dallin Chase. Dallin Chase has an amazing line of dresses. Each one personifies summer: casual, fun, short, so adorable, and each one would work perfectly with my wardrobe. My thoughts? I want them all! As for the perfect shoe to pair with this dress? Stick to lower heels, or flats, as anything too high could look a bit well, much. Try these or maybe these? Sure, it might not be the regular New Year attire, but you could make it work.

A show-stopping red colour, jersey fabric and $132? Fabulous. Sure, the dress also comes in navy and black, but isn't the candy apple red colour just amazing? Plus, you can easily transfrom it from day to night with just gold heels. Maybe something like these?

recent purchase

Besides the normal christmas gifts, clothes, gift certificates, dvds, music, etc, I always get money from my grandparents. My decision this year? To buy shoes, of course. And so, I did just that. The "Cacee" (I'm sure she regrets that now after her noticable fights with her 'personal assistant') by Jessica Simpson footwear. Do you like them?
I have this craving for all of her shoes, though how much designing she put into the is questionable, they are all adorably cute, gold lined, and rediculously high. Afterall, I am quite tall already, but with a 3 1/2' wedge to boot?...
Anyways, when I showed my mother my purchase after yesterdays shopping expirence, the first thing she said was "Are you going to wear them?" because really, long story short, I usually like to buy things, and then never wear them, just to send them to my never ending closet, to occasionally bring out, try on, and look at for a good 2 minutes. Oh, how exciting my life is.

2006: summarized

Well, besides all of the crazy celebrity hook-ups, marriages, divorces, babies, etc. , 2006 has been eventful. New fashion trends, picked up, trashed, and avoided completely. If it made an impact in 2006, it is here.

bubble hemlines

Ah, remember when we all wanted something with a bubble hem? Then, shortly after they came out, they went away again. How I love the fashion industry. Will they be around next year? Unlikely. (Picture from style.com, Badgley Mischka Spring/Summer 2007 line)

natural hair/makeup

Besides the odd overload of glitter on the runways, the natural look took over. And not just in hair and make-up. Look at the red carpet appearences, shorter dresses, casual waves a la Jessica Simpon, and even gasp! The comeback of thick eyebrows? Will the natural trend be around next year? Probley. (pictures from style.com of Bottega Veneta and Michael Kors runways)

Flats

If you were around at all the past year, and paid attention to fashion, you had flats. Cute, simple, and they go with just about every outfit. Will they be around next year? Probley. shoes, available here (I love them!)

belted waists

What says femininity quite like a belted waist. A clever way to show that, yes, you have one, and yes, it is extremely sexy. Will they be around next year? Expect them to fade out by late winter. (photo from style.com, Chanel Fall/Winter 2006 runway)

jumper dress

Something that just recently took the fashion world by storm, the jumper dress. Cute, layerable, but what about the longevity? Don't expect them around much longer. Available here.

bootie

A trend that just about every celebrity was sporting. With jeans, dresses, skirts and everything else. However, the trend on the street has barely made a dent. Will they be around in 2007? Unlikely. (photo from style.com, Proenza Schouler Fall/Winter 2006)
wedges

Finally! Shoes with height, and yet you could walk around all day in them because, yes, they are comfortable. Longevity? Through Spring and Summer, and into Fall. Available here.

Pink Lip
Seen all over the runways for Spring/Summer 2007. Reactions? Mixed. Longevity? A small percentage might pick it up, overall? I love it, and with the right shade, it could work. (photo from style.com, Diane Von furstenburg Spring/Summer 2007)

flat boot

A riding boot made its way into just about everyone's home (I, too picked up on the trend). Will they be around much longer? Doubtful, expect them to fade out by mid-January. Available here.

wish big

Is a great dress, something quirky like the Anna Sui Plissé striped dress, $510 which would go great with the black leather boots from the previous post, or even these, or these, or these! Yes, it could go with anything, but, with the wrong shoes, or bag, the dress can look a little grandmother-ish. Which is never a good thing, considering mine wears stripes and flower prints mixed (even though I have told her countless times it never works).

Something else I would love to have this Chirstmas season?

The Edwin by Ninewest. A round-toed flat, leopard print (in a classy way), and a cute little black bow on the toe? And it is on sale to boot? l-o-v-e it!

go for it

A trend that has been around for a few seasons, that we all tend to ignore? Big, large necklace chains with too much to look at. A great thing to wear to a more dressed-up occasion, or even with jeans and a T-shirt. My say? Love it.

take one

With Betsey Johnson, who really knows what you will get. With Leopard prints practically everywhere, and a mostly gaudy outlook on everything, I was pleasantly surprised to come across this find. Yes, still a little much, but with the proper outfit, and not a single piece of jewelry more, it could look perfect. $42

take two

Topaz? Gold? On a multi-layered chain? Love it. In gorgeous fall colours, stand out in the now world of white snow, with something dramatic like Topaz. Not wanting to spend $350 for the necklace? Might I suggest the bracelet for $200?

take three

I adore big, bulky pendants. They are perhaps, the perfectthing to pair with a white T-shirt, or even a more glamourous dress. Remember to go simple on the chain if possible, otherwise, it might be a tad too overboard. $132

take four

How utterly scrumptious. A gold chain, and simple, ordinary unidentified beads (although they are most likely hematite or onyx, either way, I love both). Great with just about anything, although, if you click on the link, it looks horrible (though I have yet to see it in real life) with black. Good thing my wardrobe has lots of colour in it.$205

8 ways

I apologize for the non-postage on sunday. It seemed that i had frogotten about a certain worth-30%-of-my-mark project, and I was only half done. So, here it goes...

We all have a gazillion bags. There's the cute one you like, but never wear, the expensive one you borrow from another, but rarely get to use, and everyother bag that has come into contact with you. I have compiled a list, of the 8 bags (yes, eight, but it doesn't seem like a lot to me...) that everybody should have. And yes, 5/8 isn't bad.
one

The everyday bag. Old faithful. The bag you turn too when nothing else seems to go with it. Neutral colours (like brown leather) tend to work best. The bag above ($649) could also be categorized as "The giant bag you love, but can never fill".
two

The pricey, but worth it bag. Sure, it may seem a bit steep, but, if you have the money (or, a VERY generous relative), my only tip? Go big or go home. No, I'm not talking about the price. But, look for extras, like a cute padlock, or a great chain or fun gemstones or unexpected textures. Afterall, this is the speacial occasion bag, the keep it forever kind. $1540
three

The cheap, but adorable bag. For those that have expensive taste, but a cheap budget, might a recommend a bag with a price like $30 ? Now, doesn't that sound nice?
four

The sophisicted bag. The bag you just love, even though it is a bit dressy. Afterall, you bought it, so you should be able to wear it anywhere. Right? $198

five

The fun tote. With a great, colourful print, a sturdy fabric and strong handles, where can you not go with it? A weekend trip? Why not? What about as a school bag? What's stopping you now?$88
Six

The bag you love, but not everybody understands. Bright colours, different textures? The more the merrier, I always say. $249.95
seven

The crazy clutch. So over done with zippers and gromets, it's right. Love it, hate it? Can it go with anything?
$19.99

eight

The bag you carry along, when you just want to stand out. A crazy print, and dramatic colours really help, but stick with a classic shaped bag, to tone down the chaos.$398
